Birth Doula Support Options

Our doulas are passionate about supporting families through the journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They are highly skilled professionals who provide emotional, physical, and informational support to help you have a positive and empowering birth and postpartum experience. Whether you are a first-time parent, have specific needs and challenges, or are welcoming another addition to your family, our doulas are here to provide personalized care and support that aligns with your desires.

Birth Support Package

Support Includes:

    • 70-page birth preparation workbook.

    • Informational and emotional support via phone, email and texting.

    • Two prenatal visits to learn about you, and your feelings and preferences for your birth. Discussions include coping strategies, labour options and preferences, feeding preparation, and postpartum planning. We firmly believe that the preparation that goes into the prenatal stage of your journey helps you become empowered parents, who make informed choices that are right for you and your family.

    • Colostrum collection kit and feeding preparation discussion.

    • Support is always available. Your doula and the Welcome Baby Co. team are on-call 24/7 for your birth from the moment you book support. A backup doula from our team will be arranged in the event of an emergency. See the backup doula and long labour FAQ section for details.

    • Continuous support through your labour and delivery, from home and the hospital or birth centre. Once labour begins, we will communicate by text or video chat until you are ready for in-person doula support. Although there are many “tools” your doula brings to support your family, her most important tools are her hands for counter pressure and massage, her voice for gentle coaching and guidance, and her understanding of the process. Doulas are shown to reduce the need for pain medications, reduce cesarean rates and most importantly increase birth satisfaction.

    • Partner support and guidance. We are not a replacement for your partner and are there to encourage and support them in taking an active role in your birth experience as much as they feel comfortable, as well as step in when they need a break or are feeling overwhelmed. They bring love, we bring knowledge and guidance, and together we all work as a team.

    • 2 - 3 hours of immediate postpartum assistance to help with the first latch or feeding method of your choice, and help you get settled in the hospital or at home.

    • Birth photos and/or video on your phone or camera.

    • One post-birth check-in visit within one week of your birth to ensure you, your partner and your baby are adjusting well, and answer any questions pertaining to the birth, breastfeeding or newborn care.

    • Your support doesn’t have to end here; Postpartum doulas can be an amazing resource for many families.
