Ann-Marie Beirne (she/her)
Postpartum doula
About Ann-Marie
Born and raised in Calgary, Ann-Marie always had a strong passion for travel and people. She is the proud owner of a Scottish husband who she won in an archery contest in Glasgow. Since meeting they have added two incredible boys to the collection, Finn and Charlie.
Ann-Marie originally went to University in Vancouver for Musical Theatre and enjoyed pursuing an acting career through her twenties. She became interested in Doula work after the birth of her second child, Charlie, in 2024. During her maternity leave, she created a walking group that turned into a large support and friendship group and in doing so, cemented a firm belief that community and support in the postpartum season is invaluable to the success of parenthood.
In her own life she has given birth both by C-section and VBAC and has suffered from PPD and PPA. TMI? Nothing is TMI after you’ve given birth. Postpartum is hard enough without shying away from taboo topics, because someone has definitely already gone through what you’re going through, and sometimes it just helps to talk.
Ann-Marie is a qualifying doula studying with The Doula School Canada. Prior to training as a doula, She was an early years educator in Calgary and in Glasgow, Scotland. She signs Makaton (baby sign) and BSL. She believes in supportive and affirming care using evidence-based practices.
What to expect when working with Ann-Marie? Kindness comes first and she approaches care with understanding and compassion. Her goal is to meet you wherever you’re at and support you from there. With a core belief that parenthood is not an island, and you do not need to feel alone. Regardless of what you’re doing, you can expect laughs, a cup of tea, and one or two anecdotes.
